I USED to get great care here..USED to. One of my dogs was lethargic I called ahead to let them know we were on the way. When we got there I filled out all the ER paperwork the tech was less then patient with my dog getting him to the back because he was slow and she yanked on my poor dog. Vet came back after evaluation saying nothing outward was found but a fever and high blood pressure which she chalked up to the tress of being at the vet. I wish I could give them a negative star. I've arrived with my dog that had eaten rat poison. According to their Triage, that would be a STAT condition. Presumably, we should have had priority. Nope. We had to wait over 4 hours to be seen. We were never shown to a room. The whole time we were there we were in the waiting room with other dogs. As I am sitting there, I see only 2 rooms dedicated to emergencies: one of them is for Kennel Cough that is highly contagious. They never cleaned the rooms once a patient left. I had to... read more

My dog had blood coming out of her backside and I took her to VCA Alameda East Veterinary. I had no chance to talk to the Vet who examined her and the Vet did not give me a prescription for the medicine they recommended (they gave me some there but not enough). I had to go back to get a prescription and one of the employees told me I would have to pay for a second visit to get the prescription that I should have gotten in the first place. I found an injured stray. I turned it over to Alameda East for veterinary care. I contacted them to ask how the cat was doing, and was told I signed a paper, basically like a parent giving up rights to their child. (I wasn't told any of this upon dropping off the cat.) They refused to give any information about the cat. I just want to know it's okay, that they could help it, if they found a chip and contacted the owner or that it'll be put up for adoption, and that it wasn't just £^(&ing killed. So shady. This place is way overpriced and dishonest. The doctors most likely knew my animal was going to die but kept giving me hope and much larger bills. My impression is that they kept the animal alive and made it look good during visiting hours to make me think there was progress. After finding the facts about my animal it was most likely not a good idea to continue with more very expensive procedures.
