Honestly wish I would have just gone to the hospital in the first place for labor. I was GBS positive and needed penicillin during labor to protect the baby. I was given the antibiotics too quickly and had an allergic reaction which resulted in me being transfered to the hospital due to my baby being in distress so early into labor where it wasn't viable for me to push. My husband left at the time to get us food and I was alone in the room struggling with fever like symptoms due to the reaction until someone eventually came ... read more

We absolutely loved our experience with the Vanderbilt Birth Center. Our prenatal care here was fantastic, with highly knowledgeable and caring midwives at every appointment. The nurses are available around the clock via phone to support you with any needs and answer questions. They always took our concerns seriously and made us feel so cared for. I ended up going two weeks past my due date and unfortunately had to transfer to Vanderbilt hospital to be induced. However, the midwives did everything possible to help me go into... read more

Really wanted to love this experience as my last birth was natural at St Thomas and I was hoping to do a water birth this time around…. Sadly I pretty much never met the same provider, they seem very high and mighty on it you’ll meet their “requirements” to be eligible to receive care there and honestly for what? Because truthfully not everyone was great and no one communicated well with eachother - example: I was told I needed to take a certain type of iron by one person after a different provider said the one I was taking ... read more

I immediately ceased care and transferred away from the Vanderbilt Birth Center after repeated dismissal of my birth preferences and Vanderbilt’s refusal to respect my informed refusal to certain “requirements” of theirs. Don’t let them fool you. I was told I “wouldn’t find a provider anywhere” who was willing to support some of my decisions and birth preferences. That statement was completely false. On multiple occasions I was told I “had to” or “wasn’t allowed to do” certain things (blood work, vaccines, etc.) Again, also ... read more

This clinic used to feel supportive, but my experience during my third trimester and delivery left me deeply unsettled and feeling like I was not properly cared for. Late in my third trimester—after I had been a patient there since early pregnancy—I was suddenly told there were concerns about my iron levels being low. Because of this, I was transferred from the birth center to the hospital setting. The situation felt rushed and confusing, especially since I was told the levels were only .01 away from the baseline to birth at... read more
