I was seen as a patient at the Fresno Veterans hospital in July of 2017. Dr Jyothsna Swarna treated me. I just want to thank her for her excellent care. I probably would have gone home after my episode, but she made sure that I stayed in the ER to observe me. My symptoms did progress and I was admitted. I did not realize how ill I was at that point. I have nothing but good things to say about the VA Fresno and all the health care providers I encounter there.
Terrible experience in the emergency room with my father. He was suffering from hepatic encephalopathy and the emergency room doctor, Jyothsna Swarna, barely looked at him, did no physical examination, and when I questioned his MELD score, she asked me in a very condescending manner if I had a medical background. She would not give my father lactulose because his ammonia level was not elevated. She told me that his chances of dying in the next three months was less than 30%. That was on December 4, 2014.
