RecommendedI have always got great care at this facility. All the staff really care.
The PA I saw was wonderful. The staff at the front desk need to quit lying to people. Had a sleep study done and asked them about the report and was told by the girl there, it had to be requested through he Marion VA office. Went to Marion, and was told the Mayfield office could have printed me a copy. I also was in to ask about talking to the PA, because of a change to a couple of my medications, and was blown off. I’m a retired veteran and I was turned away from this clinic because I wasn’t assigned to it. I was complaining about abdominal pain due to possible appendix flare up, but wanted a ruling before going to the ER as last resort. Well guess who was under the knife less than 12 hours for appendicitis. Was not asked any questions about my health.
While not always perfect for the most part the care I have received from Mayfield VA has been very good. I have found the staff to be genuinely caring and as helpful as they can be given the limitations of the system they too have to work in. If there is a problem I expect it lies well above the local offices. The Federal Government needs to provide greater funding especially for rural sites so vets who live far from major population centers can get better care and attention.

I would rate a zero. My husband has repeatedly had the worst treatment he has ever had in health care at this center. Dr. Saxton and PA-C Melvin, neither will listen to him nor address the pain he has from a fifteen year injury. My husbands pain and medicine were being adequately treated until this center. I will be contacting VA to get further assistance in this matter.
