I didn't start using my VA medical benefits until I was nearly 70yo. Private insurance? -- costly, and hoops to go through. Medicare? - managed cost, and managed hoops. VA Portland? - top notch service, friendly, thorough. Some hoops, but best care I could expect to find. Definitely not the fanciest facility/clinic you're likely to see. Absolutely insane. Bus didn't pick up my friend so he had to take himself, and now they still want to drop him off at my place WITHOUT HIS CAR. It's completely illogical, calling the VA lead nowhere, your phone operators are rude AF and cut you off and direct you to the first word they hear. To make it worse their transport phone hours aren't even open when the bus is supposedly going, so you have NO WAY to contact them about why they're not showing up while the clock is ticking away. It was a beautiful day today. I also had a beatutiful appointment at the VA medical center. Very logical, straightforward treatment plan delivered by an objective, compassionate physician. Truly, an appointment in Heaven. Thank you.
