I was very disappointed in the care my brother received during his recent seven-day stay at UVA Hospital. Our experience was distressing and unacceptable for a medical institution of UVA’s reputation. If our family had not stayed with him around the clock, my brother’s condition and safety would have been seriously at risk. The care in this hospital is below average to say the least. Don’t park in the garage unless you want to leave home with 4-5 scratches on your vehicle. Someone is guaranteed to hit your car with the small spaces they have available. No oversized parking in the main garage so you will be parked between wide trucks with no way to get out. Don’t even think about bringing children or having a car seat. Good luck if you’re pregnant. Save yourself the time and stress and go to Martha Jefferson if you can. I cannot say enough about how well UVA took care of my daughter from the moment we arrived until discharge! The entire pediatrics ED, surgical team, anesthesia, etc were on the ball from arrival, took amazing care of her, and made sure we were informed the entire time of what was going on. I wish the hospitals in our area had an 8th the amount of care UVA did!
