This place is absolutely shocking. It blows my mind. They label you pretty much what requires the least amount of time so they don’t have to do their job. I got misdiagnosed. Went to other doctors and they strongly disagreed with UVA’s diagnosis (I knew it but wanted to see another doctor to confirm it) I can’t believe how bad they all are. DR PURVA AMAR is the least helpful doctor anyone struggling with mental health could go to. If it was possible to give no stars, I would. This place is absolutely horrendous. I’m not sure how this place is still open. I’ve heard and seen so many bad reviews so I know it isnt just me. Instead of helping you they create more problems. outrageous--they don't treat the patient as an individual, they do everything "by the book" even if it's not best for the patient. When my psychiatrist (who was STELLAR) left after graduating, and I got a new one, she completely ignored my previous doctor's orders and tried to change my treatment without my consent. This facility was a disappointment! Most of the staff there are students and interns who don’t yet have a clue as to what they are doing! They start you with one psychiatrist and then soon as you are comfortable and making progress they switch you to another one who doesn’t know your history,doesn’t listen to you and then undoes your entire regiment including medications and instead offers you something that you absolutely do not need such as sleeping pills.Though I asked to have my previous doctor back and complained to man... read more
