I went to the ER in extreme pain from an existing chronic condition. When I was led to an exam room I should’ve asked for an ice pack. Even better, they could’ve offered one considering the pain I was in. When I’m in that much pain (7+), my memory and all-around cognitive function is not 100%. I wish they could try to understand this. This is why chronic pain patients often just stay home and languish in agony. I presented to the ER in extreme pain from an existing chronic condition. When I was led to an exam room I asked the nurse for a pillow to put under my knees so I could lay down. She said sure then never returned. I wasn’t offered any immediate pain relief; not even an ice pack. If you wonder why chronic pain patients just stay home and languish; here’s your answer!!! The wait time wasn’t as bad as some previous bases (8 hours). Only waited for about 2 and the nurse seem to have done everything reasonably to find the results.
