Serious concerns about Avera’s handling of cardiac emergencies. My grandmother presented to Avera after-hours with chest pain and a swollen ankle, raising concern for possible clot or cardiac involvement. She was found to have elevated blood pressure and abnormal cardiac labs and required hospital admission. Despite these findings, Avera Heart Hospital declined her case, stating it was not serious enough, and recommended admission to the main Avera hospital. Not very pleased. They said the wait was an hour. It was well over an hour. I get life happens, and there is a bunch of chaos all the time. We were being skipped over even though we put our place in line for acute care. A week prior I had my blood drawn, and the vein was still bruised after a week. I decided to go to ER with symptoms that I was pretty sure of. If I wouldn't have gone, it could have been a very very bad decision. As soon as my wife and I showed up to the front desk, the attendant was very friendly and took care of, all the admitting. When she finished, she walked us back to my evaluation room and set me up with directions for getting into a gown. This is a Friday night people, and there was no wait and I got right into my room. Was in and out and staff was friendly
It is literally so sad to me today. How horrible customer service is like the people behind the desk are not friendly anymore ever it’s like they are pissed off that you were there. They’re never welcoming. They always have attitudes what is happened like what is wrong with society, I do not understand. I did not even wanna wait in this establishment because of this. Truly disgusting
