When I first moved into my apartment 5 years ago, everything was good. First, I was asked to pay the security deposit via venmo which was odd. Refused cheques. Money order only if i could drop it off in person (I was out of town), and finally offered paypal/ zelle as an option. I needed a place, pickings were slim, I was starting work immediately after moving to CT, so went with paypal, because there is some form of protection as opposed to just sending money.
