Thank God for the staff, doctors and nurses at UR Thompson Hospital Emergency Department and OR! My son, husband and I cannot thank enough, the dedication and the thoroughness of the professionals who diagnosed our son's appendicitis and treated it all the way of having it removed. I've had nothing but terrible experiences with the ER. They'll often make little attempt to diagnose what the issue that brought you in is (they flat out admitted they lacked the ability to ultrasound a body part) or completely misdiagnose a medical ailment as nothing more than anxiety. They have no issues with lying on medical records as well and don't be surprised if it takes over an hour to get your discharge papers after you've already been cleared to go.

On October 11, 2023 I called Canandaigua Medical Group at 2:40 pm about some concerns that I had. I was told I needed to see a doctor. My doctor didn't have any time available until next week so I agreed to see a nurse practioner. Cynthia made an appointment for me for 10:45am the next morning or so I was told. The observation unit employs nurses that are so ridiculous. My sister was there before she transferred herself to another hospital. She forgot her pillow. I stopped by to retrieve it and no one would speak to me. When a traveler tried a nurse sitting in the plexiglass nurses station told her that she would take care of me. I had Dr. Sharza for my visit. She immediately came in and spoke over me. Did not allow me to talk. Wrote in my summary that I was referred to go to urgent care via my work and that I hadn’t contacted my PCP about my illness. Both were incorrect however she wouldn’t know this because she talked over me.
