The term "dog trainer" is commonly used but can be a bit of a misnomer. What actually occurs during these Tom Davis Experience workshops is "people training" or better yet "team training" whereupon you and your dog become a more cohesive team. I audited Tom's seminar in Denver in May 2025 to learn and grow as a trainer and it was a powerful experience. I've been following him for years, but seeing him LIVE was special. His handling, patience, and ability to teach are phenomenal. He answered all my questions in depth and circled back around to point out relevant things to me later which made me feel seen and heard. I highly Upstate Canine Academy and head trainer Zach. I have a two year-old golden that was exhibiting behavior issues, but Zach taught me how to read her body language and we figured out what was really going on. After weeks of working with Zach, she has turned into a confident dog. We recently attended Tom's Denver workshop with both of our dogs. Something we both greatly appreciated was Tom's skill not only with handling dogs, but also interacting with people. He was easily able to connect with each owner, meet them where they were, and explain the concepts he was trying to convey in a way tailored to each owner and their particular dog. My wife and I attended Tom's training event in Denver, CO to get help with our Cane Corso-mix pup. Tom's vast experience with reactive dogs really showed as he not only helped our pup but also the 5 other reactive dogs who were there for help. I appreciate Tom's balanced view that each dog should be trained with techniques and tools that are specific to their issues and personality.
