I highly recommend Upstate Canine Academy where I trained with Zach Burt in private sessions working my way up to group classes. Zach is a superior dog trainer. He has a deep understanding of all aspects of dog training. He is empathic to both dog and owner recognizing their individual needs and personalities. This was a NOT a good experience, I want to see how he is in a few weeks to give a accurate end rating. UPDATE - After having Scar home for a little over a month, I have to say that this was the worst thing I could have done for him. He is now much more anxiety ridden than he was before. I would have to assume that this is due to him being left alone in a separate room from the other board and trains, which was not told to me until I picked him up. Zach at Upstate Dog Academy has worked miracles with our dog in a very short time. He takes the time to explain the methods he’s using, ensures we understand them, and makes sure we’re comfortable with the process. Each lesson builds thoughtfully on the last, and we’ve seen real progress with every session. We highly recommend Zach and Upstate Dog Academy to anyone looking for effective, compassionate training!

We are one private lesson in and I am impressed! Zach is great at explaining techniques and answering any questions we have. I am looking forward to getting our dog trained so we can get out and enjoy life more!
