I had my son on 12/7 by emergency c section after going into labor the morning before and laboring for about 20 hours. I have nothing but kind things to say about the team and my nurses (granted some nurses i could’ve done without but i feel like that’s anywhere in healthcare these days) but mainly my experience was wonderful. I just gave birth to my first son Thanksgiving weekend here. The staff was nothing but amazing the entire time. I had Sena and Jill as my nurses and they were so amazing. When the time came for my son to come out, Dr. Pike delivered. Dr. Pike and all the nurses in my room were so super supportive and encouraging which made me feel more comfortable and positive. I am always very hesitant on hospital experiences. Mainly bc my first delivery was a c section and traumatic for me. This was my third baby and overall my experience was good. My labor and delivery team was awesome. They made the experience the best. I had Maddie (midwife) and Portia as my labor and delivery nurse. This duo was awesome. Both were amazing. I can’t express how grateful I am to UPMC. My entire pregnancy was filled with sickness, and the staff here went above and beyond to support me with genuine care and empathy. During my three days of labor and my five-day stay, I felt like I was surrounded by family. Every nurse midwife (each are godsend) and doctor treated me with such kindness, making a difficult time so much easier. I gave vaginal birth , 03/28/24. The team is honestly amazing. Wellspan discharged me saying I wasn’t in labor , boyfriends sister brought me in 50 minutes later to UPMC hospital , staff in the emergency room was FAST to get me upstairs , staff was quick in labor and delivery to check my cervix and get me a room. 5cm I got the epidural.
