I went in for a 3-hour glucose test and had to wait in the queue with everyone else. I showed up at 7:15 AM and the waiting area was already full. I waited over an hour and a half without being called back for my first blood draw, so I left. Most people do not have 5-6 hours to dedicate to a test that should be 3 hours, especially after fasting and while being pregnant. If you have a job and/or want labwork done in a reasonable amount of time, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
I arrived just before 7:00 a.m. for blood work. Registration was pretty quick. 2 people registering people. 1 PERSON taking blood. God love her! She was doing a good job but there were sooo many people waiting. I was there over 2 hours! When I left, the waiting room was standing room only. UPMC, you have to do better! You can afford more help!
Nothing against the Doctors I see here, but the lab, oh the lab!!! What a crazy inefficient process. Calling in a group of 4-5 every 30 or 40 minutes is crazy. At least when they would call a new patient in as one was leaving, you had the illusion that things are moving along. Management needs to look at their process and make improvements andnit respondimg to reviews saying you would love to hear from us... You have, multiple times, most of the reviews are all the same. You are just ignoring the problem.
The lab here is awful. Just awful. They take absolutely forever to call you. Make sure you give yourself 2 hours at least to wait. A child threw up and they didn't even clean it up. It was so disgusting. Upmc needs to do something about this.
The lab is only open 630 to 245 7 days a week…..how is this plausible for those who work during the day? News flash: it isn’t. It use to be open until 7. There’s absolutely no reason for them to be open during the workday like that so people who are working can’t get lab work done.
