Horrible customer service. not responsive, my specialist was always busy, never calls back and closed my case despite me calling 4 times saying they never heard anything from me causing additional work and stress during a challenging time. For a company that is supposed to be an advocate, extremely disappointing service.

I've never used this kind of service through an employer before, so I made sure I read and understood how the process works ahead of time. My experience with Unum so far has been smooth and easy. The reps are friendly, communicative, and understanding. Because of that, I was able to pay my hospital bill in full with my claim, and be able to purchase my necessities while spending time recovering.
Terrible customer service. Terrible communication. Get ready to do some paper work and babysitting while recovering.
