Been off work since Feb 12th due to surgery ...STILL NO PAYMENT ON MY SHORT TERM DISABILITY.!! Absolutely the worst company!!!!!!
Some of the worst people I have dealt with. I Had a claim that said "being paid" I waited for 4 weeks. Never received a dime and now the claim is closed while I still haven't gotten paid. And it's all due to them not doing their job correctly. I sent them all the necessary information and they confirmed it. They are messing with people's money and denying claims that shouldn't be denied. Finally after several phone calls and hours on the phone, they are getting the money out a WEEK FROM NOW. Aortic dissection and I'm getting fought tooth and nail for continuation of benefits past 6 weeks, which they denied despite severe pain, and inability to drive. Fast forward a year and my brother is getting 6 weeks for gallbladder surgery from AFLAC. UNUM is a garbage company that gives little thought to the callous, and borderline criminal decisions to cut benefits when they're needed most.
I would like to start out saying that I agree w/what many said about UNUM---in the past. My claim was actually "lost" once. Another xtime my UNUM person went on an emergency leave. I was up a creek for weeks until a supervisor called. The app is poorly made & rarely matches the actual website. Your fone reps need training. Until I had the good luck to have MARIA as my rep this time & she took great care of me this time-- 5 stars this time UNUM. She was timely and did what she said she was going to do - every time.
