Contact Unum and open a claim for short term disability then was told will take 5 business days to review. On the 6th day contact me and collected more urgent care information and then told me will take 5 more days to review. They could have ask about the urgent care info on the first call and took 5 days to have that second person to receive my claim to review. Unum kept giving excuses so they don’t have to pay anything especially for the short and disability claims. Wish I can give 0 star. Unum is the worse ever!!!
They took a very long time to release FAMLI funds and claimed that they were waiting for my employer to send or verify information, yet my employer had sent the information long before I contacted Unum asking about the situation. They ended up sending my benefits at the end of my FAMLI leave. Then, when tax season rolled around they claimed that they do not upload tax documents online. They only mail them. This company is so dumb. My husband’s employer uses them in order for employees to get paid state leave. It took him over a month to get paid and that was after they constantly called him asking for “more information.” Except the information they were asking for, they already had. They made him relive the heartbreak of our adoption fail last summer in order to get his money. Even after his case was closed, they still called. Literally the worst company. I went out on maternity leave and had to go months without any payment. Even after speaking with UNUM and my obgyn, the hospital, my nurse and my therapist it still took weeks to receive any payment. I submitted all my paperwork in a timely manner and still had to go through the stress of not knowing if I’d be able to pay my mortgage. They are careless and half of them don’t even know the policies. They gave me false, incorrect information on multiple occasions and are overall just terrible.
They wait 4 weeks to tell someone they can’t help them!!!! And then slap them in the face with an $18 payment. Garbage company
