My partner just recently stayed here and we would highly NOT recommend it. They lost a couple of his belongings that were SUPPOSED to be safe and in THEIR care. They have no physical activity for their patients, they USED to have a courtyard but apparently someone tried to run and that’s why they don’t have it anymore?? I was deeply troubled after reviewing my records and finding documentation that I believe characterized me as being at risk for sexual violence. This conclusion appeared to be based on a very brief interaction and my disclosure that I had feelings for someone. As someone who struggles with social anxiety and often has difficulty even initiating conversations with women, I found this characterization shocking and difficult to understand. Not happy with the services I received. No one did their due diligence by following up on things I listed as previous medical history. I got to the hospital. Checked in got setup and iv was place. Urine samples... the whole shebang. Just to be told they wont do surgery because the staff failed to ask the appropriate questions regarding past hospitalizations. I wasted my time. Resources. Money and a babysitter for nothing. I am so upset
Was a good experience for me. The nurses and doctors and techs are really cool people.
I'm reluctant to complain too much, because I know my mental illness biases me against a place like this. Sparrow was .. fine, I guess. Staff was friendly. Rules were clear and enforced. People were reasonable. Mostly, you feel drugged up, alone, and scared. But I'm alive, so they did their mission. Roberta and Alex are wonderful. (Edit to clarify; I was in the behavioral health unit twice.)
