Dear Chancellor Gillman As a 1975 graduate of UCI I was greatly disturbed to see the recent action of the Associated Students in disallowing the American flag to be flown in a common area. I can only hope that youthful ignorance and misguided intention were the reasons for such atrocious judgment. As a former veteran who has had the complete honor of caring for WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans I can certainly say that none of them would ever define the flag as a divisive symbol.
