Anyone who wants to understand the history of Europe leading up to World War II should go here to learn how the Nazi party gained power. The Jewish population of Germany was 0.88% of the total; the non-Jews outnumbered them 112 to one. Yet somehow they were blamed for the ills of their economy. Never forget the six million Jews plus five million other victims of the camps. This can happen anywhere.

One of the best museum visits in DC. The exhibits are well curated and informative, guiding you through one of the darkest chapters in our human history and causing you to reflect on the past and present and how the world at times fails to remember history (and repeats it). Recommend reserving tickets in advance ($1 service fee). It is timed entry ticket. Took ~3 hours to tour the museum. Lots of reading, artifacts to view and a couple of short videos.
