Took car in for a SMOG inspection initially three years ago and they were great (quick, honest, hardworking). I have since been back twice. The 2nd time i had an issue with my muffler. He told me up front that it wasn't his specialty, but said he would take a quick look to better understand the issue so he could refer me to the right place. He recommended me to visit a muffler specialist friend of his in Hayes Valley and didn't charge me for the quick evaluation. I was so thankful. I took my car in because it was making a grinding noise when braking. They evaluated the problem and fixed it without charging me, saying it was just a minor tweak. I felt most garages would have milked me for a service fee, but these guys are very fair and professional.
Great Shop I was really impressed with the service i got from this garage. the prices were good and when i left i really felt i got a good deal. The staff was very friendly and they were able to fix my car (transmission ; late model Honda) and I am now back on the road. ** update. Just took my car in for an annual check up and they provided great service again they were even able to fix this annoying rattle the had just started up and the price for that extra services was great. FREE! just confirms that this is a great shop.

Honesty is Hard to Find Honesty from sales people and auto mechanics may be hard to find, but you can find it at Union Street Garage Incorporated. I came here twice with my friend who is learning how to be an auto-mechanic himself. John, the employee who was working both times, seems like a good person who won't try to trick you into buying parts and such unless you really need it.
