This process was a nightmare. My 3 week job ended up taking 2 extra months. The communication was terrible. When we talked to the person creating the estimate, he said our design ideas would be no problem. When the carpenters came in, all of our instructions were forgotten. When asked why the design changed they replied with "I think its beautiful." We were told on several occasions to pick out materials but the items were either ordered or shipped incorrectly. There where issues with this job. With regards to the communication issues, in the beginning of the project UCS was told by the customer that she felt overwhelmed with the amount of communication ( I have the email from her as proof), so UCS we starting sending emails once a week with an updates. The changes made to their "design ides" where due to the amount of space they had available, UCS offered them several other options, one which they accepted. Distilling my favorable evaluation of Unified Construction Services UCS) is difficult. They are highly skilled, humble, genuinely nice people; doing quality work. Home restoration and remodeling was new to me, and it seemed UCS was the best qualified from those BBB highlighted. 4 men spent 1 1/2 days on their hands and knees in a small crawlspace in 90 F. degree days.
