About this business

Bringing a slice of Thailand to New York is just what Uncle Boons does. Serving authentic Thai cuisine, this restaurant is best known for its appetizer and drink combinations. Among these, the mieng kum, made with betel leaf is legendary. The equally delicious entrees include the massaman neuh and the crab fried rice. Right space at the bar not allowing to easily get into the dining room. Hate crammed places like that. Decor is authentic and homey. Service was friendly and helpful. Betel leaf appetizer is outstanding as is the veggie curry and crab fried rice, juicy and flavorful. It makes you crave more. Drinks are uneven as the guava sourbis simply too sour. Wonderful food - the green curry snails with their savory sauce and the chopped lamb salad with mint, cilantro, chiles and pickled onion with a roti to mop up the sauces, the astonishing amount of succulent crab in the crab fried rice. Service was excellent. My only regret was being too full to try the grilled baby octopus and a couple of other dishes that looked and smelled fabulous.
