Every member—from the surgeon and nurses to the speech therapists and Dr. Mackensie for NAM has shown incredible compassion. They took the time to answer all our questions, explained every step of the process, and treated our child with the utmost kindness and respect. We are beyond grateful for this team and all they’ve done for our family.
I was born with a complete cleft lip and palate on the left side. I went to many cleft teams growing up in Minnesota. Honestly cleft team visits were so so hard for me- it was anxiety provoking because I didn’t feel seen or heard as a kid versus disorder. I am so thankful my parents transitioned my care to the UMN Cleft Team when I was in my early teens. It changed the trajectory of my care, as well as how I view myself as a person.
