About this business

Umbertos Clam House opened in 1972 and since then it has garnered a reputation as a place to eat simply prepared seafood in Little Italy. It is also known as the notorious site of a Mafia murder, although the crime happened at 129 Mulberry, the original location. The restaurant takes its name after the last prince of Italy and the kitchen stays open late, thus making it a favorite with night-owls. To suit every customer's demands, steak and pasta dishes have been added to the heavy seafood menu while the wine list keeps ever... read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE – Was thinking of throwing my brother's bday party here, but after what happened today, NO WAY. I was walking by, employee was outside, cleaning the sidewalk. He turned off the hose initially, but then within seconds turned it back on again. I wasn't even done passing by so water splashed all over my legs and into my shoes. I told the guy, "watch where you're spraying." His response, "F*** you." I was surprised but angry so I shouted back at him. When he realized I wasn't going to just walk away without puttin... read more

Watch out! – Our food was fine, but we were charged extra for the bread ($6). I'm sure they assumed we were tourists and were trying to rip us off. My friend politely questioned it, but as we left, the waiter yelled something ugly to her out on the sidewalk. Incredibly rude!

Meet the manager who knows everything about anything! – Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at approximately 2:01 PM - When I am in New York I always visit Umberto's for fresh shellfish. The clams were excellent as usual but the service was terrible and I thought I would speak with someone. I spoke with an unidentified "manager." I told him that I always enjoyed the clams but the service was somewhat awlful. He told me that it is hard to "get professional waiters anymore." Further, "they can't be found, it's impossible..." I attempted to a... read more

We had an excellent time – My wife and i were there Friday Dec 8th. We were treated like royalty. We had a great time. The service was excellent. My wife had mussels and was thoroughly pleased. I just had cold beer and listened to the great music. It was a great place to spend our Friday night and will definitely return next trip. Rick & Tonya Houston, Texas

The WORST dinner ever – Let me tell you. First, the used bread had low grade oil. The salad was not what we ordered, but whatever it was it was awful anyways. The shrimp parm was $25 and the shrimp was non existent, all bread. The linguini with clam sauce tasted like dish water mixed with clams and the pasta tasted like last nights left overs. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Good food – My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant on saturday. The lobster ravoli was very excellent, because it was actual lobster instead of the usual lobster paste that is used in most lobster ravoli dishes. My boyfriend had the pork chops, and he really liked his meal. Overall, a very nice meal and excellent service for the price.

Great food – Every time I visit NYC, I come here. This is the best Italian restaurant in the city. Service is excellent, no wait, and you get a lot for the price. Waiters are very friendly and the pasta is out of this world.

Last choice – When visiting little Italy definitly go somewhere alittle more authentic. This fish shack is exactly that. Fried fish, limited pasta menu and very limited appetizers. Don't get me wrong food is good but, not the reason for coming to mulberrystreet. Zuppa de pesce is great. Nice spot to share appetizers dont be surprised if it takes all night service stinks.
