Horrible food greedy owner – This is not the same udipi cafe that existed last year by Mr Satish. The food is horrible hardly edible, and buffet is terrible. it is a big letdown. Boycott this restaurant or stand to lose 10$ for a buffet and then get acidity

Great food and service! – First off, full disclosure - I have a close family relationship with the owners. That being said, every time we visit here (at least once a week), the food is fantastic. And guess what? When we put in the order, the kitchen usually doesn't know it's for us as "VIP" to the owners. They think it's a normal order. The dishes come out great anyway! NOT THE REALL UDIPI. BAD FOOD – I went to the newly opened Udipi Cafe in sugarland not far from the old one adress 3551 instead or 3559. Anyways I think the food wasnt that great and i wasn't pleased with the service and the waiter dose not speak english very well at all, and the food DOSE NOT TASTE LIKE THE REAL UDIPI ( considering i've been to every single location) at every other location the food is excellent but for some reason the food at Sugarland udipi isnt good. Worst food. Greedy Owner. Poor Customer Service – Buffet was very bad. Nothing is in order. Heavilly salted chutney made us sick for 3 days (Realy very terrible..) Please reconsider if you are planning to visit here.

Bad Food. Over Priced – Recently we dined at the new location at Katy. Food was terrible. Tasted like warmed up frozen dishes bought from web. None of the dishes (including) dosa was worth for the $9.99 paid.

Big Let Down ! Overrated – Visited Udipi Cafe based on the reviews. Either it was one of those exception days - or with passage of time, the quality has come down. The idly and chutney were poor quality. Vadas and Sambar was good. Uppama was oily. Vegetable Saagu had mostly frozen peas and potatoes - no other sabzis. The waiter was supposed to offer us a dosa of choice. Well ! he did - at the very end as we were having the yummy gulab jamuns for desert. Pest Problems – Yesterday, my girlfriend and I were greeted cheerfully by the server. As we were sitting in the booth on the right wall, we both noticed a "small, brown, oval, flat-bodied insect common in areas of poor cleanliness" scurrying across the floor under our table. Chameleon Consistency – This is a good place for anyone who wants a good spread of vegetarian South Indian food on the menu. It is not a good place for anyone who wants great tasting vegetarian South Indian food. If the cuisine is a novelty to you, then by all means go. On the other hand, if you know how the stuff?s supposed to taste, then you have an even chance of being dissatisfied. The same dish tastes good on some days and awful on others.

Cheap Lunch buffet I have been to my share of Indian restaurants, but Udipi has by far the cheapest lunch buffet. Even though the buffet is inexpensive, the quality and quantity of food is still excellent and the waiters are very friendly. You can order from the menu and they have many desserts also.
