I had an extremely disappointing and emotionally distressing experience at UCSF Parnassus Emergency Department on October 15, 2026. I arrived by ambulance after experiencing excruciating abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. I have a complex medical history, including a serious blood disorder (JAK2-positive essential thrombocythemia), a previous pulmonary embolism, and a prior hospitalization for colitis with concerns about reduced blood flow to my intestines. The doctors and nurses are great but the long excruciating wait is beyond my understanding. They need better infrastructure. This place is always packed to the brim, patients on beds all along the hallways like a natural disaster or apocalypse in SF had taken place

Brother it’s an emergency room. They were thorough, they listened, heck they kept a good sense of humor. They worked as fast as they could. If you have a problem they will help.
Very disappointing experience with UCSF urgent care services. I came in with an subungual hematoma annd fracture and wrist pain, was evaluated by a PA, and had X-rays done, but I was never seen by an attending physician. A podiatry resident with no real knowledge saw and proved conflicting evaluation from the PA. Again, no licensed physician with independent assessment saw me !!!
