It’s one of the best psychiatric facilities in the area but it is not perfect. First of all, UCI, as a hospital, is head and shoulders above other facilities in the area. They do the best they can given what they are tasked with. The advice given to me by the resident doctor(s) is generally good. It’s not without its share of problems, though. I have seen a lot of bad reviews. I hope I never experience the poor care that these people have experienced. My experience has been wonderful. Super easy making appointments, your psychiatrist follows up with you in my chart, they really listen to you and prescribe the right things and follow up to make sure it’s working. They have never made me feel like they aren’t taking me seriously. They have always listened and taken my statements and issues with compassion and solutions. I love this place. I was put here in the adolescent neuro psych ward for a week or so. Often with these reviews people complain about how they were forced to go, and yes it was involuntary but thats not the hospital’s fault. I had a pretty good experience. The food was great (except when the cafeteria workers went in strike), the kids were nice, and they covered safety issues very well. We did art or music therapy everyday and sometimes had ‘church’.
