Just want to thank you for your kindness for our daughter Amanda Washburn. You explained her surgery in terms she could understand which helped her a lot. As. 91 year old retired Doctor, we were always taught that patient communication is the most important part of medical practice and you certainly epitomize that concept. Facing open heart surgery is a daunting task, and you helped Amanda greatly. By the way, it turns out that you went to high school with our neighbors (Celeste and Bob Kling) son!!! To start, the journey to figure out what was actually wrong with me was very difficult. It took almost a year and a half to finally understand what needed to happen. When I finally got the prognosis, that's when it got real. I visited with Dr. McDermott and she recommended open heart surgery...scary news, but needed.
