I went back and forth with this genetics scheduling team on a pending referral for a PKD screening (literally a swab of my cheek and a referral to a nephrologist) and by the 3rd call to them to follow up on my referral (over a month of time waisted) they let me know that it would be a 2-4 year wait... Absolutely insane. People’s lives are on the line with these types of appointments and not only was this handled in a careless way it was incredibly telling about how this health care system functions. As someone who works in t... read more

I have had more than 6 different referrals sent to this clinic by different doctors since 2019. Every time one is sent, I get an automated message saying to try again in another couple years. Calling the clinic often results in rude dismissal. I’ve had several life-altering surgeries and disorders that need treatment. Then, after I FOLLOWED UP, she said I probably have HEDS, but that t... read more

it takes a very long time to get an appointment with the UCHealth Adult Genetics Clinic. I expected a very high level visit with providers who understand my specific genetic variation, which is not yet as well-understood as other genetic abnormalities. Unfortunately, instead of focusing on my specific variant, they lumped me in with other variants on the same gene and gave me very generic information about the associated syndrome, as well as prescribing yearly testing that is expensive and unhelpful in my specific case. In t... read more

I have been trying to get an appointment for over 3 years now. I have yet to hear any reason why it's taking so long. Maybe because I don't live in the city? Ridiculous
