Was told by Beacon Hospice staff member that I couldn’t access my mother own healthcare providers because Beacon was in total control of her care. Was told “We own her care.” I tried to be forgiving of that comment, thinking it was just one bad apple, but things didn’t add up. After my mother died, I sent Amy Sanborn, administrator a nice note expressing appreciation for my mother’s care and she never replied to me. I got nothing. Once again, thanks go out to the staff of this Harlingen Hospice group for the excellent care they are providing for my mother and the ongoing support and help they are providing to me! Especially, I want to thank Jean, the Social Worker, for all of her help and recently, for working so quickly to help me secure some paperwork that I needed. Amedisys Hospice claims a mission of compassion, dignity, and quality of life. Our experience fell far short. Our loved one had aggressive brain cancer. Care was fragmented and added stress rather than comfort. Nurses were kind but lacked the authority to act quickly. Critical medications were delayed or unavailable. We were told a Depakote suppository was ready for pickup, only to arrive and learn it required prior authorization and would not be available until the next day (she passed that night) 2 hours before her death, ... read more
We were over the top pleased with everything. I am severely fragrant sensitive and cannot tolerate synthetic fragrances. We chose Amedisys because of their fragrance free policy. Although, the nurses weren’t completely fragrance free (FF), they bought FF deodorant and shampoo just to accommodate me. They also put my medical condition on high alert to anyone that may come to my house. Besides that, they were caring, courteous, kind and thoughtful. We would highly recommend them.
Greed runs this company. I had an issue with my health insurance, with the wrong insurance being listed. I was told by Amedisys that they would not even schedule an appointment with me until this was cleared up, unless I was willing to give them a check for $675 for them to come to my house. Once I finally got this cleared up, I was snootily informed that I was no longer a patient with them and that I had refused PT. I refused to pay $675 for PT as I had active insurance. The Nurse assigned to my mom was intrusive, didn't stay in her lane, and apparently is bad at her job because every time she alerted me that mom had low blood pressure or "crackles" in her lungs and I'd take her to the ED or Urgent Care, or regular doctor - none of it was the case. They are bossy and sometimes rude even. I will never ever work with or recommend these people. Be warned.
Do better, Amedisys Home Health, Port Charlotte. Honestly, they are undeserving of even one star. My husband got out of the hospital, and Chrisine told me to call them to resume care. When I did, they declined - no notice, no phone call, nothing. He went into the hospital with 3 infections, including MRSA, so not so sure how successful their "wound care" was anyway. My 54 YO husband suffers from Huntington's Chorea - it affects his movements and mind. It shares some similarities with ALS, dementia, and Parkinson's. They sai... read more
I got to call sometime ago offering to get my laundry done for free, well 7 weeks ago they picked up all my work clothes and returned me someone else's, I complained I have been complaining for 6 weeks they haven't found my laundry they've given me two other people's laundry one of them had a lot of nice stuff in it so I'm sure you'll want it if you're missing laundry Deb and Angel are not helpful they are rude do not have services with them you will regret it.
