great vibe, drinks, food stopped in to watch a sunset and grab a beer. Stayed for the tom kha gai soup, samosas and poncho sanchez playing live while the cessnas landed behind him.
Good food and a fun location Typhoon has a mixture of many different types of Asian cuisine. You can find Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, and even Indian dishes. The food is great and the location is an adventure in itself. Children, big and small, can have fun watching small aircraft landing and taking off.
Typhoon I had fun one night here sitting at the bar. The menu is pretty interesting if you are brave! Along with typical great Thai food the menu includes scorpions, crickets, frog legs and worms. Great for adventurous little boys! And it's at the SM Airport so that is an added plus for kids to see the planes.
Tasty and Inexpensive Don't be fooled by this restaurant's location at the Santa Monica Airport. The interior is sleek and the food high quality. Nor does the clientele consist primarily of pilots and other airport-related folks. The weekday lunchtime crowd is largely suited. The restaurant is small and aesthetically pleasing but noisy due to poor acoustic design (a concrete floor and large windows) and overlooks the airport runway.
