I really wanted to love this hotel and am sadly disappointed. I took the red eye flight from San Diego to NYC and had a 8 hour layover on my way to France. I booked a day room for $268 so I could rest while waiting for my Air France flight. Six hours for $268. My flight arrived early and I tried to check in 1 hour early with the intention of paying extra. Was told no way. Very nostalgic and unique experience. That said, it's way overpriced. You know it's bad if you have to walk into the airport terminal to get food because it's cheaper there. The rooms need sheer curtains. There's not even a reflective coating on the windows. They have great blackout curtains, but if you want any natural light, every passer by can see right into your room. It's like living in a fish tank.

So this is absolutely a cool piece of history to visit if you have a long layover at JFK. Not to be missed, can’t be beat. But as a hotel????? Awful. -Insanely expensive -Annoying to get to unless you land in Terminal 5 -Floors are carpeted and your room will definitely be nowhere near reception so be prepared to drag your bags over carpet for half a mile -NO COFFEE IN THE ROOM. Absolutelyy favorite hotel in which I have ever stayed. Although I have to admit I am a bit of an Aviation and travel geek. All of the furniture, accessories and stuff around the hotel are on point and retro. An absolute must if you're an Aviation buff or like historically significant architecture and buildings. Am definitely planning on staying here again.
