Super helpful. My rotary phase converter's motor was making noise, I suspected bad bearings, talked to Brian & asked him to listen to it on speaker phone without mentioning my suspicion, he confirmed it sounded like bad bearings. I'm impressed by that - asking for a mechanical diagnosis over the phone is kinda ridiculous but he did it & got it right.
