About this business

Got a date fixed and planning on the venue? You have to consider this tranquil bar, which was a Turkish antique shop prior to its bar status. The decor is in green and red with a few old urns (Turkish of course) put up in nooks and corners. The bar can pour you about 60 kinds of wine. Avid eaters can go for the Lebni, which is almost yogurt with a lot of cheese. Only don't stuff too much of it, as there is no Turkish bath to relax.

Nice wine – Nice variety of wine. Casual environ. but not romantic. Unless you are in the back red room, seats are not comfy. Over all decor leaves a bad taste in your mouth but the wine makes up for it. Friendly service. Night we went, there were 2 bar hosts that looked like Fabio with dark hair.

magical place – I'd heard about this place from a few friends and finally made a trip one night. It's a sweet, neighborhood wine bar that is cozy and warm. They serve light Turkish fare and have an excellent wine list. It is definitely a great 'date place' with romantic lighting and decor. After 10pm it became really lively because of the spill over from the Meatpacking District. The owners were friendly and encouraged tastings from the wine list. I'd recommend you try it!

Big disappointment – I am Turkish and usually sentimental towards bars and restaurants that are run by Turkish people. But this place is a total disaster. At our first visit there many months ago the food sucked and the waiting staff told us that they ran out of Pita bread. Come on ! How about buying some from your corner market. Second time the white wine was served luke warm. And the staff did not want to listen to our complaint at all. If you want to spend a cozy night in a wine bar then do yourself a favor and visit of t... read more

TURKISH DELIGHT – This wine bar is exactly what the neighborhood needed. Someplace cool and cozy, where you can sit, have a drink and a conversation. The crowds vary depending on time of evening. After work, its a great place to meet friends or a date for a quiet drink. After 10:30 it gets more lively. The music and crowd changes. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Homespun Turkish wine bar where everything's for sale. – The Scene This cozy Turkish antique shop turned wine bar sits off a quiet side street in the West Village. Though its red and green interior isn't polished to perfection, its charm makes up for any oddities (such as the indoor faux wall with windows). An added twist: Most of the urns and antiques on display are for sale--just ask. The Draw Couples and small groups of friends begin filling the tables as night falls, but the most interesting seat is at the bar, where pat... read more
