(6/11/24) I need to edit some of my comments below. Just had a second opinion and my bone is fused okay and I will not need surgery. The specilust did agree that frequent xrays versus ultrasound is more appropriate to diagnose healing and I did not need to be in a boot as long as I was. Shame! Shame! It seems Dr. Self has a modus operandi. Diagnose a fractured foot and torn tendons by using a sonogram (apparently this isn’t the way to diagnosis these things) put you in a big black boot for 2 months. I heard this story from a number of his patients AND the Adventist Health Orthopedic offices in Sonora. “Don’t take one step on your foot or it may break,” he told me. Dr Self is far better than Bay Area doctors! He takes the time to prep custom orthotics that are far superior in quantity and comfort. I no longer have knee and back pain. Totally life changer and I highly recommend him! He’s just the best!!! He also has a very friendly and helpful staff.
Worst doctor ever! Misdiagnosed me, put me in a pneumatic boot for 2 months for a fracture that didn’t exist. I read other reviews on yelp from people who had similar experiences. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
