Responses from the owner – This is Joel Spainhour, the owner of Tucker Pup's. I wanted to respond to several comments posted below all at once. I'm always dismayed if someone writes a negative review about us. We work very hard to make every dog's experience as positive as possible, and we take these comments very seriously. I believe that when this occurs, the issue at hand could have been so easily resolved through simple communication. You might read "Tucker Pup's is uncaring" or "they didn't give him water the entire tim... read more
Review – This is a test.
mixed feelings on Tucker Pup's – My dog recently stayed here for boarding while we were away. For some reason, he was VERY happy to see me when we came to pick him up. When he's stayed in other daycares in the past, he's usually really happy there and not that eager to leave. Staff are really nice and they said that he was fine but he didn't seem to play very much and he USUALLY loves to play. The business also does not have strict procedures on temperament testing. I had to ask about it. Also, I made a reservation and hande... read more
Business response:
We have water available to all the dogs at all times (including at night). We consider your dog's first day to be a temperament test because we don't want to evaluate a dog based on its first hour. We ask a lot of questions and try to introduce the dog slowly unless it seems like he'll be totally fine. The vast majority of the dogs come bounding in the door each day and many play and play throughout the day. If a dog doesn't play as much his first time, he may just be a little nervous or maybe a dog got in his face that made... read more
Put Your Mind at Ease with Tucker Pups – I was really happy with my dog's boarding experience at Tucker Pup's. She had never been to day camp before, and she really enjoyed it. Also, I was able to drop her off for a free day before making my decision to board her there. I was nervous about leaving her for so long (1.5 weeks), but she was fine. I called a couple times to check up on her, and I was always put in touch with a staff member who had been engaged with her. I would definitely recommend Tucker Pup's.
Home away from home – Daphny loves being at Tucker Pup's as much as she loves being at home. I was very worried about how she would do without me, but the friendly and professional staff made her feel welcome and loved. I was the neurotic mom and called in several times to check in on her, and every time I got a glowing report. Thanks to Tucker Pup's, both Daphny and I have great weekend getaways!
Great place for your dog to stay – Hudson always loves going to Tucker Pup's for daycare, so we knew he would be well taken care of while he was there for boarding. In fact, we were worried he'd have so much fun while we were gone he wouldn't want to come home. It was nice to know he would play all day so he would be tired and just sleep all night. I would hate for him to be somewhere where he was crated all day with only a few walks or play times. It was also nice that it was one package deal; whereas at other places you pa... read more
Excellent boarding service – I feel more comfortable boarding my puppy at Tucker Pup's than I do having him stay anywhere else when I am away. When I recently boarded Jake for 16 days, I had complete confidence that he was safe, well cared for, and getting a lot of love. At no extra charge, the staff regularly brushed him, cleaned his ears, brushed his teeth, and made appropriate adjustments to his food when he wouldn't eat it. It cannot go without saying that the genuine affection the staff consistently showed Jake is what ... read more
Wonderful Boarding Experience – I was more than pleasantly surprised with my boarding experience at Tucker Pup's. Fergie is extremely shy, scared, and fearful of people. I only had her for 6 months (I got her from the rescue organization), and she had bonded with ME, but would not go to anyone else. I had to go on a trip, and I very hesitantly left her. When I came back and picked her up, I was shocked to see her actually running, playing and fetching with the other dogs. She had obviously been very well taken care of, and m... read more
Sidney loved her stay! – Not only did we enjoy our experience with Tucker's Pup's boarding, our dog Sidney, a 4 year old yellow lab - loved her stay over the holidays! It is always so difficult leaving your pet in the hands of others for such a long trip. However, we were completely comforted by the incredibly knowlegable, organized, and most importantly caring staff. The dog handler carefully analyzed Sidney's personality and matched her most appropriately with similarly tempered dogs. We truly appreciated the thoughtfulnes... read more
