I contacted my lender some time ago to get reduced payments for my federal student loans. The solution they provided was to do a consolidation and that consolidation reduce my monthly payment down to $379. At that time I had a balance of roughly $65,000 so a payment of $379 did not seem that bad to me. After sitting down and going through my personal loan evaluation I was extremely upset. I was supposed to be paying about $430.00 per month back on my student loan debt and had no idea how I was going to ever pay it off. I’ve been on forbearance for so long I thought I was going to have to go into default.
