Depends on what you are looking for. 13 weeks with no locker rooms or bathrooms (after we were told 6), people vacuuming under your feet during business hours while you are using the equipment, making you give your name at the desk every time you come in instead of using a tag or sign in, and not trusting you to use a locker without taking your car keys do not impress me. I would highly recommend Tru Fitness. The staff is amazing and always has a smile on its face. The price may be a bit more than the "box" gyms like planet fitness but you do not have the personal atmosphere there that you do at Tru Fitness PLUS the pool and classes are included. Their schedule for classes are chaning almost weekly to accomodate members as well as Yoga was just added which is exciting. The gym has been completely renovated and looks gorgeous! It is too bad this website allows former disgruntled employees to post such untruths about a business. The locker rooms were completed in mid July and are spectacular. Wooden lockers and beautiful tile floors so clean you could eat off of them. State of the art cardio machines with TV monitors and all new or reconditioned equipment. Towel service is available and there are a ton of classes. The new owners gave spent a ton of money for upgrades, new pool, equipment, locker rooms and the like. Just joined! The general manager or better yet, Ms. Sunshine that is what they call her. I have to say, she is! Goes out of her way for all the members. Always friendly and kind.. Love the pool! Locker rooms almost done.. Can't wait!
So many have been talking about all the fantastic changes happening, I decided to check it out for myself... I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with cleanliness of the facility. But what stood out the most was the staff!!! They were personable and very helpful, and now in the process of renovating the locker rooms... Can't wait! Wow! Amazing refreshing change to what is seen in the areas average fitness facility. Tru Fitness is doing everything everyone else is not doing. How many places in town are making an effort to provide an exceptional service and product? That's what they did. Staff always greet me when I walk in and they are always cleaning! As a new member I appreciate the renovations and have a vision. I find the warm water very soothing. As for the changing areas ~ pull the curtain tight and remember it's temporary. I met the new owner and his some of the personal trainer staff. I am looking forward to working there and growing with them.
When new owners took over Onondaga Hill Fitness to become Tru Fitness in December 2012, they sent postcards to current members stating prices and classes (something Onondaga Hill never had) but charging for classes (2 classes/week would equal membership price for year.) It is cleaner, new equipment, pool closed 2 1/2 weeks for renovations. Now locker rooms, showers & bathrooms closed for 6 weeks(at least). Tru Fitness is under renovation and expects their members to use portajohns outside and across the driveway. There are no changing rooms available and no showers. This is expected to go on for six weeks. They are unwilling to give members an extension on their membership for this inconvience. I have had several of the employees be rude to me and to others around me. The facilities will be cleaner when the work is done. Now they need to learn to be nice.
