About this business

Situated near the theatre district, the Troquet Restaurant is one of the city's trendiest restaurants. It offers fine cuisine and finer wine. The French food offered includes items, such as Kumomoto Oysters, Braised Short Rib Canneloni and Duo of Foie Gras. And the wines and champagne are from regions in France, Spain and Italy. Sit in the comfort of the elegantly done-up brown-hued rooms and enjoy the greenery of the lawns while you wine and dine.

One of the city's most successful, and intense, culinary marriages pairs fine wine with French-inspired cuisine in the Theatre District. – With a stylishly narrow second-floor dining room and impressive views of Boston Common and the State House, Troquet presents an attractive choice for theatergoers in search of a luxurious pre-show meal. The restaurant's wine-loving owners put an incredible amount of effort into the wine list, pairing each and every menu item with several wines (available in two- or four-ounce servings). Great food and wine selection, service pretentious, price high – Caesar salad was delicious, as was the Duo of Foie Gras (served two ways, with pear), would not suggest the Roasted Organic Chicken (way dry), nor the Suckling Pig (too salty). Go somewhere else for Rib Steak. Excellent wine selection. Wait staff was self congratulatory and tried to be more than they are. Prices were high- expect to pay at least $60 per person for three courses and wine.

Excellent food paired with excellent wine – Troquet has the most interesting wine list in Boston. It has something for everyone--some outstanding and expensive wines, but not as expensive as elsewhere. Also, some medium priced wines that are very good. Chris, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and always has interesting recomendaions. Or you can choose the wine pairing with the food for a good combination. The food is also excellent and has improved recently. I had an excellent frisee salad and outstanding halibut for a g... read more

Be prepared for some sticker shock... – Troquet is a great dining experience. Wonderful food, a mellow, cozy atmosphere and a great wait staff. What is particularly nice is not only do they have a good selection of wines available by the glass, they list them with the appetizers/entrees that best suit them, so theres less guesswork pairing food and wine. They also have a great bartender who mixes up some terrific cocktails (try the caipirinha). The only downside is that the wine list is amazingly expensive, with the majority... read more

Wonderful experience – I was able to treat my girlfriend to a wonderful evening at Troquet last weekend. The ambiance was dark and romantic, the service impeccable. We got the 6-course chef tasting menu, and at least in our short lives neither of us has had a better meal. Her favorite-the short ribs, mine the roast duck. (got to try both). Also, the chef chose goat cheesecake and the signature cake. Both were terrific selections and highly recommended. Although the meal is pricy, the wine selection, impeccable service, and q... read more

Very good place for fine dining/wine. – We did a six course tasting menu here on Valentine's Day and enjoyed it very much. The Nantucket bay scallops were the best that I have ever had. This is quite a statement, since I grew up on Nantucket and they are a personal favorite. The halibut was also excellent. The menu style and wine list were a nice touch. We had ten different wines from their list, and probably seven were strong choices/values. The service was solid as well. After a second trip here, I was even more impressed.... read more

a gem – Troquet is excellent. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday on a cold winter night and everything was fabulous. The service is attentive without being overwhelming, and they are extremely knowledgeable about the menu as well as the extensive wine list. The food and wine are amazing, the pre-pairing of the wines with the food on the menu is very nice but we ordered a bottle and were not disappointed, the server was right on the mark. I didn't get a feeling of the "turn and burn" mentality which sometimes permeates... read more

u know nothing, until u eat here!!! – sooooooooo unbelievably good. it would be a sheer display of egoism on my part to pontificate on the cuisine served here. also, the service was OUTSTANDING. waiters actually look you in the eye and smile with apparent genuineness. food is brought out with minimal time, while not detracting from the quality. desserts are of equal caliber and very complimentary to the entrees. i will make note of the average age of the clientele: late 30s to late 50s. also, on a thursday night, it got quit... read more

Simply the best – By far, the best restaurant in town! So much better than all these other pretentious restaurants with stuffy service and ridiculous recipes... Great service, simple and nice and creative cooking. Wine list is amazing and choice of meals limited but very balanced. And better than anything... you don't need to have dinner at 5pm! They serve until midnight... The first civilized restaurant in town!
