Scheduled an annual physical with her, but she ended up billing me almost $200 for that visit (which was supposed to be covered by insurance but she coded it as a different type of appointment) because there was “a concern with my lab work.” She scheduled a follow up appointment that only took a few minutes for her to tell me that she ordered additional lab work to be done. My 91-year-old mom was in the ED with excruciating pain in her lower back (as she could best explain the location). A scan was done to rule out a kidney stone, which proved to be negative. She does have a stone but on the right side. The ED decided it was an infection and the old lumbar fracture and put her on antibiotics, Tylenol for pain.
