As a person wholly invested in my animals, I am so very disappointed to learn that this center turned away a grieving pet owner who wanted to seek comfort in a support group, citing that her grief would be “insulting” to others losses. Love, support networks, family and companions are so varied in our lifetime and an informed counselor would recognize that the loss of an animal companion may be as profound as that of human companion. Tonya reached out to let me know that even though I lost my nephew and my service dog, that attending her group would be an insult to the other members. What a sickening response.
Was told my reason for being actively suicidal was not good enough. Gatekeeping mental health. Disgusting. Shame on you people.
The counselors are very friendly, honest and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Trinity Family Counseling to everyone that needs assistance.
