Citysearch Editorial Review – Every neighborhood should be so fortunate to have a Swedish bistro like this, where coffee cups are refreshed every five minutes and the service is as sweet as the pancakes’ strawberry jam. Inside, happy gnomes dance along a wall mural in the first-floor dining room, a haven for North Park families craving the signature Oslo omelettes, Swedish meatballs with lingonberries and pastries. Tables are situated closely together by necessity, but that adds to the place’s charm. Friendly servers tag-tea... read more
Overlooked Swedish food gem While most tourists flock to the better-known Ann Sathers Swedish restaurant a mile west on Clark Street, this West Andersonville gem is worth seeking out. Prices are reasonable and food is superb. Creative dishes and nice traditional Swedish decor in this rennovated home with two stories for dining. Swedish favorites like pancakes with lingonberries, potato and veal sausages are complimented by innovative specials.
The food is good, no doubt about it. That's all you want is a great meal at decent price. The salmon appetizer was delicious. I had to try their swedish meatballs and it definitely hit the spot. Delicious
Check out the mural – I live a short, walking distance away from Tre Kronor and I used to eat brunch there every weekend until my protruding tummy begged for me to cut back. It is heavenly, and breakfast/brunch is splendid with choices like orange French toast, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, and fluffy stacks of waffles topped with mounds of fresh fruit. The rosy-cheeked waitstaff are consistently friendly and helpful. And even though the place is always packed with children, they never seem to cry or complain about th... read more
Best Maple rolls ever! – Spectacular Maple rolls, great swedish/norwegian meatballs and potatoes!! The elves lend a magical quality to the place!
Customer – Great breakfast. The omelets were delicious. Dinner entrees were good too. Large portions. Tasty deserts and appetizers. Excellent service. We went back three times. Just 3 miles north of Andersonville. Worth the drive from downtown Chicago.
Neighborhood Charmer – Offering consistently excellent service on repeat visits, Tre Kronor is now near the top of recommended lists - both to out-of-towners and residents. Decor is humble, service exceptional, and the food the real draw. Tre Kronor knows how to offer daily specials - often so many, the choices become dizzying. Seafood is a good bet, here, and the desserts change as well. If the bread pudding is on the menu, it is a must-have. For such service and food, one would expect a shocker of a bill at the end of the ... read more
A hidden gem – This is one of the city's best-kept secrets -- excellent cuisine, friendly service, pleasant ambience, and reasonable prices. The breakfast menu is outstanding: imaginative quiches with fruit salad, several ambitious omelettes, waffles topped with fresh fruit and real whipped cream, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, and pastries, all served with excellent coffee. Lunches include salads and sandwiches, tasty soups, and enticing desserts. The owners are often in the dining room, serving coffee and chatting wi... read more
A real find – It's always a treat at Tre Kronor. Wondefully cute place with perhaps the nicest waitstaff in the city. We always have a different server, and he/ she is always incredibly friendly and pleasant. The food is good, too. Delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, homemade pastries, tasty soup and sandwiches, etc. The space is small, and fills up quickly, but they never rush you. Always puts me in a good mood to come here.
