Dr. Burns performed a bicep repair on my wife. During the surgery, he drilled through and crushed her motor nerve (the posterior osseous nerve), which allows her to open her hand. He also cut her radial artery. Another surgeon, Dr. James Adam, came in and did his best to repair the nerve damage. My wife was unable to open her hand and fingers and move her wrist like normal. I’m giving a score of 5 because I had such a great experience with no issues regarding the surgery including almost no pain. I went off of hydrocodone after just 2 days, as I did not like the constipation side effects. I used the ice machine 24/7 for the first week. If you are lucky enough to have a willing care giver to change the ice, I highly recommend the machine. The daily text messages were very consoling. Dr. Burns is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. I had a complete ACL tear along with a partial meniscus rupture, and as someone who had never undergone surgery before, I was very nervous about the entire process. Dr. Burns and his team made me feel comfortable and well-informed every step of the way. Their post-operative program was organized, thorough, and easy to follow, which made my recovery process much less stressful. I truly appreciate the care, professionalism, and support I received throughout my treatment.
