We expected a travel and immunization clinic to be fully informed. Unfortunately, this was not fully the case for us. We visited the clinic and told them where we were going in Africa. We were told we did not need yellow fever vaccine including the fact that for the elderly, there are rare but very serious side effects. We told them that we wanted to be safe especially in case of serious illness. For where we were going, a serious illness was best treated by going to the neighboring country. This is one of few places that I could find to complete the vaccines that I needed to travel. They were kind and speedy. They told me at my first visit that when I come back for the second dose of one of the vaccines that I would not have to pay for the office visit and that the second dose would be $99. After giving me my second dose I was charged $49.99 for the office visit fee and another $22 for the vaccine administration, on top of the $99.99 for the vaccine.
