Named after a bohemian district in Rome, this restaurant is located in the heart of Santa Monica on the 3rd Street Promenade, a popular shopping and dining area. A trusty outlet of typical Italian fare, the place is known for its zesty pizzas and an excellent wine list. The spacious patio makes for top-notch people watching and gets packed to capacity at mealtimes year round. Also, you can park in one of the Promenade parking structures or the residential neighborhood north of the strip. - Jamie Zum

Fun Place to People Watch – Had lunch here on Memorial Weekend. My stripped bass was pretty good. My husband thought his butternut squash tortellini didn't have that much flavor. The prices are high. My fish was $28. That's more a dinner price than a lunch price. You can sit and watch people walk by and listen to the street musicians.
Promenade trattoria for people-watching & Italian classics. – Located on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Third Street, this spacious eatery brims with outdoor tables that look out onto all the action, allowing for an unobstructed view of the constant flow of shoppers, beachcombers and street performers. Although it's no four-star dining destination, its location and large selection of soups, salads, pastas, pizzas and Italian classics make it a popular spot to grab a bite before watching a movie or after a long day ... read more
Terrible!! – I'm not sure you could even use the calamari as bait it was so bad. Took one bite and couldn't eat any more. Then the entrees came and it went from bad to worse. My wife and I each took one bite and we sent all of the food back and promptly paid for the wine and left. Words cannot express how bad the food is at this restaurant. Avoid at all cost!!!!
My advice: skip it. – I've never before written a review for a restaurant, and probably should have for many of the great places I've been (I'll have to play a good deal of catch-up!). Though that past good service did not prompt me to comment, the poor experience afforded by Trastevere does now. The food was blah, no better than your local Olive Garden. The service was so-so, but not exceptional. The real kicker is that they double-double charged my card (correct amount once the night of dining, then twice the correct amoun... read more
very bad service – The food might live up to the price and the location. But the service was really terrible and for that, I am sure that I won't go back there. On a sunny Sunday, I went to the restanrant with my friends for luch and after finishing eating all the food we had ordered, I asked for the check. At that time, we were in a hurry because we had a plan to do. So I asked our waitress to hurry a little bit in a polite manner. But to my surprise, she got angry at me and began to blame me for what I had said. I did not ... read more
Bad customer service – My family and I went to this restaurant thinking we could have a nice Christmas Eve meal. Boy were we wrong! First of all, there was no record of the reservation we had made. After placing our orders, we enjoyed a fried calamari appetizer (decent but not the best I have had), and waited for our main courses. After about 20 minutes of waiting, imagine our surprise when our plates were cleared and silverware taken away. We were all thinking this was a pretty nice place to be giving us completely new plac... read more
If you're expecting the same quality of food or the same service as the Hollywood Blvd. location, you can forget it. The wait was ridiculously long. Then you finally get in and the wait staff was rude and hard to get a hold of for drinks or ever just to take an order. Then there was the food. It was AWFUL! I expected the food to be somewhat like the other locations but it was not. The food was cold, tasted terrible and when I asked why they told us that we didn't have to come back. They further explained that they were NOT o... read more
Really below average – I would be kindda OK with bad food, but they overcharged my card, probably adding tips to themselves, I had to call my credit card company to sort it out, thank God I did not throw away my signed receipt!!! never again, cheating on customers is always unacceptable, avoid.
Pretty decent – I've been here a couple of times. It's great because it's not too fancy and not entirely casual. The service sometimes leaves something to be desired but every time we've ordered food, we get it much faster than we'd expect. Sometimes the penne is a bit undercooked. We were shocked to have our party of 3 seated immediately at 8pm last night (Saturday).
