Presuming that the reactors, even twenty years from now, can both use and convert to short lived waste, the not-really-spent-fuel of today's LWR designs, it follows that the alleged problem of wasted nuclear fuel is already solved. Fuel rods no longer usable as LWR fuel, should logically be already reprocessed to separate the actinides from the fission products, perhaps after a year or two of cooling off in pools, but then the very small volume of short lived highly radioactive waste needs very little storage space, and the ... read more
