Great Southern Indian Buffet – This is my favorite Indian restaurant. I am not a vegetarian, and yet I find the food here appealing and completely satisfying. The price is a little steep but if you go hungry you can get your money's worth. The service is fine - it's a buffet - they bring you drinks and take your plate away - what else do you need? My favorite South Indian Restaurant in the Triangle – This place is my favorite South Indian restaurant in the triangleand probably my favorite Indian restaurant in the triangle. Their Dosas and Idlis are really good. Their North Indian menu is not that extensive but the quality is quite good-especially the Paneer Makhani and the Gulab Jamuns. Great vegetarian Indian! I have only been to Tower for the lunch buffet, but its great. I especially love the fried idli. Its all vegetarian, which is a huge plus - and serves dosa and other south indian food, which you don't find that often around here. This is definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in the Durham/RTP area.
Very Authentic Dosai – I am a south Indian who was raised in south India. The dosais (my spouse and I have not tried anything else) are quite authentic. Unlike other Indian restaurants which are always filled with non-Indians, this restaurant always has a lot of Indians in it. That should tell you a lot. The service and decor are also quite typical of a dosai/idli/thali restaurants in south India, which means that it can be seen as a little shabby for American standards.
Best Idli Sambhar Dosa Bharatnatyam in the RTP area – To date, I have not been aware of any link between the weather and my food choices. However, today morning, I woke up to the sound of rain and, to my astonishment, to images of Idlis, white and fluffy, floating over a sea of Sambhar, dotted with fried mustard-seed tadka, and irregular shaped specs of dal and coconut chutney. healthy choice – I like the fact that it is vegetarian food plus its not oily. Their buffets have a good variety of food but I wish they can take a notch higher with decor and lively service.
As close as mom's cooking as it can get... – I think peterjamie has no sense of taste. I come from the same town as the temple from which the name of this restaurant is derived and the food here is as close as it gets to authentic south indian food / mom's cooking. My friends who have visited from virginia, california etc. all agree. dont ever try the thaali and dosa – Pathetic taste i ever had. Please dont ever try the weekend special thaali . I dont understand other reviews given by the restaurent owner or by customers. I fooled by those reviews and went to have a dinner at tower. Please dont go by these good review comments. The other restaurent of same owner kandaas is very nice but this one is too bad. They should improve the quality of food and others things.
Always a pleasure – This is a great restaurant with wonderful service and food. I enjoy the Sunday buffet with vegetarian dishes all unique and delicious.
