Do not work or do work for this pile of crap named Mike. He is a liar and he will rip you off bigger than life. He is a scum lord and a big time liar. He will have you pay for materials out of your own pocket and then not replace the money as he says he will. He will lie right to your face if he will even see you. 99% of the time the coward hides behind his phone. He gets off screwing people over. You can read all these bad reviews. Trust them. The house I currently rent is completely updated. Any issue Or maintenance is immediately addressed and taken care of.
Top Self (Mike S. and cohorts). should have their business license rescinded for lack of professionalism and attending to maintenance issues. Most complaints are right on with their complaints, the pro reviews look like they were written by family and friends.
Would highly recommend any other rental company. Stayed at one of their apartments in Ankeny and had a terrible time trying to contact anybody whenever I needed anything. The only time they'll contact you is to make sure you pay rent on time. They even took a large chunk out of my security deposit for "touch up cleaning" and "holes in the walls." The only holes in the walls I made were 5 or 6 tack holes from holding up tapestries that covered the large holes that were there when I moved in. I left the apartment in much bette... read more
I was asked by Julia to write a review and she may regret it. This is our first rental property with Top Shelf and it is okay. We read the not-so-good reviews prior to moving in and thought that it couldn't be that bad, however, we have had numerous issues regarding the 5-year-old home since moving in a couple of months ago. Most of the issues have been resolved, thanks to Dee's Cleanup (they deserve 10 stars), but Top Shelf is not excellent at helping resolve the issue in a timely manner.
