I've probably eaten at Toloache more than 50 times since it opened, but not for 3 years, and in that time the restaurant has clearly misplaced its mojo. The once (best in Gotham) GUACAMOLE is now a cold, stringy, sub Rosa Mexicano shadow of its former glorious self. The once marvelous corn chips? Let's just say they've embraced a new salty inner Doritos persona.The yellowtail cerveiche, was, according to Wisa (my wife), sour and not in a good way. The food was great, good service. Was on the pricey side but thats normal for the neighborhood. The one thing that really took away from the experience was the horrible cold white light radiating from behind the bar. That made the place feel a LOT less homey and cozy than it is, and made everyone look gray. Would recommend this place a lot more during daylight hours cause that kinda killed the experience.
